R.I.P. Earl Kress!

It is the very sad duty of this Blog to report the death of Earl Kress!

Earl Kress made EVERYTHING he was involved with better! Animation, comics, CD compilations, and especially animation DVDs!

Mark Evanier tells us about Earl Kress HERE!

Yowp does the same HERE!

Pictured above, the TOP CAT DVD set to which he contributed so much!

Thank you for everything, Earl!

Hey Joe,

This was very sad for me when I read it earlier today. I had come to know of Earl through Stu's Show, having listened rabidly to the podcasts of that program over the last year or so.

He and Mark Evanier did a four-part History of Television Cartoons on Stu's Show that is just priceless to listen to. It's very informative and just a pleasure to soak up the passion those two have for this material.

Plus, you could tell just by listening to Earl Kress that he was a genuinely good guy. I'll miss him, even if I never met him.

Sad news. I enjoyed reading MyNameIsEarlKress and stories he wrote for Looney Tunes comics. My introduction to Earl was The Flinstones Story: Meet The Flinstones Story, an album/cassette in with he lent his voice to many of the supporting characters. The DVD commentaries were fun to listen to as well.

Everything he touched was worthwhile, in one way or another. Most of it was extraordinary!

But, the thing I liked the most, was the CD compilation of Hanna-Barbera music. It consisted of series themes (opening and closing, with interstitial music to boot) and representative underscores. Even including Ruff and Reddy!

I played that in the car, all the time, when traveling to different cities throughout the Northeast for work. It never failed to make any driving situation better!
