"The Walking Dead" (2010). Actually, they are "Walkers" - or "Biters", if you subscribe to The Governor's terminology.

Can't think of any better way to spend it than watching the cartoon "Mickey Foils the Phantom Blot" and re-reading Phantom Blot comics.
Also "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." Gotta have that. (OK, OK, I also watched "Disney's Hallowe'en Treat.")

"Mickey Foils the Phantom Blot"? I’d sure like to see that again someday. I can still recall the utter surprise I felt when seeing it unexpectedly air as part of MICKEY MOUSEWORKS! And, as much as I still love the DUCKTAKES version of the Blot, this is where I felt they got him as “right” as Disney television was ever going to get him! Sure wish there were complete DVD releases for MICKEY MOUSEWORKS – or HOUSE OF MOUSE, into which much of that material was folded.
Phantom Blot comics and “Great Pumpkin”, always good!
As the post illustrates, much of my “run-up to Halloween” week was spending quality time with ”Night of the Living Dead”, IMHO perhaps the greatest horror film of all time. Three times, on a newly purchased deluxe DVD collection. Once “as-is” and two more times because there were two separate commentary tracks.
But, as I’ve said in the “Horror and Sci-Fi Film Appreciation Society” meetings that I attend most Thursday evenings, ”You can never see ‘Night of the Living Dead’ too many times!”
THE WALKING DEAD was also part of the mix, in its regular Sunday night time slot (where Bart Simpson was supposedly watching too) – seeming all the more appropriate for this particular week.
Finally, from the same DVD recent purchase as ”Night of the Living Dead”, a wonderful train-wreck of a film called “Horror of the Blood Monsters” (1970), also introduced to me in September as part of that “Horror and Sci-Fi Film Appreciation Society”.
This must be seen to be believed! And, be warned, I’ve already begun to write about it, so it may be coming to a TIAH Blog near you!
But, perhaps the scariest part of the actual Halloween night was in my own living room, staying up until nearly 3 AM watching Loopy De Loop and sixties Popeye cartoons with David Gerstein!
And, oh yeah… I just spent this morning shoveling up a smashed pumpkin in front of my house. Yuck!
